Cockamamie’s
came into being on July 4, 1996. On that day we took what amounted
to our life savings and put it into our store in New Hope and nothing
has been the same since. Herb
had been vice-president of a Manhattan theater circuit for over 20
years. John worked in college textbook publishing and had a
theater background. We were both avid collectors of art deco and
it was that obsession that led to a store in New Hope.
We
started off in 1996 as part of an antique co-op with porcelains, bronzes
and cookie jars. We opened our own 450 square foot store that same
year and have grown into a 2400 square foot space. In addition to
our store, we have approximately 1600 square fee of storage inventory
Our inventory has changed considerably. We now import French and
English Art Deco furniture. We have become so well known for our
lighting that Peter and Nancy Schiffer of Schiffer Publishing approached us to do
a book on Art
Deco Lighting.
We
are devoted to providing our customers the best in 20th century
furniture and home accessories at good prices. Our merchandise is
mid to high level.
We
hope you enjoy our website and look forward to seeing you if ever you
are in the area.
